ALIVE IN CHRIST TEE
Ephesians 2:1–10 tells the story of every believer's salvation—from death to life, entirely by the grace of God.
Before Christ, we were dead in our trespasses and sins, following the ways of the world and unable to save ourselves. We weren't spiritually sick or simply in need of a second chance—we were spiritually dead and completely dependent on God's mercy. But because of His great love, God made us alive together with Christ.
The heart of this passage is the Gospel: "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." Salvation is not earned through good works, religious effort, or moral achievement. It is a free gift purchased by Christ and received by faith alone.
Yet God's grace doesn't leave us unchanged. Verse 10 reminds us that we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works that He prepared beforehand. Good works are not the cause of our salvation—they are the evidence of a life that has been transformed by it. Those whom God saves, He also sanctifies.
This design is a reminder that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. We contribute nothing to our salvation except the sin that made it necessary. Because God has made us alive in Christ, we now live to glorify Him through the good works He has prepared for us.
